Porto cruise to victory!

10/04/2003.A rampant FC Porto took a giant step towards the UEFA Cup final after they demolished S.S. Lazio 4-1 in their semi-final first-leg match at Das Antas stadium. After an early goal from Claudio López for the visitors, Porto hit back with two goals from Derlei and one each for Maniche and Hélder Postiga. Postiga was active all game and dangerous, but he only managed one goal in the 10th minute of the 2nd half, tough he left a great performance and was subbed late in the game for Marco Ferreira to a standing ovation. It now will be a intresting 2nd leg in Olimpico,Rome as Lazio need to win 3-0 if they want to be in the final's in Seville. Boavista tied Celtic 1-1 and that away goal gives them a great chance to book a trip to the finals and maybe face city rivals FC Porto is all goes to plan we will have a all portuguese Uefa cup final.

Postigol put's Portugal almost trough...

01/04/2003.F.C Porto young striker Helder Postiga has given Portugal life in the U21 qualifying, as he scored 3 goals in 2 games. Portugal beat England 4-2 in the first crucial game that was a must win for Portugal if they were to have any hopes and Postiga got the first Portugal goal 6 minutes in, to open the game up. The second game was against Slovakia the young Porto phenom was the player of the game, he scored both of Portugal's goals to give them a 2-0 win over Slovakia. Postiga gave a big boost now to Portugal's chances of qualifying for the tournament. DERLEIMANIA double sinks Athens!!

20/03/2003. Porto made the trip to Greece being down 1-0 from the first leg. PAO is a very dificult team to win against in Greece, but Mourinho and his boys were very confident on a great result. Porto like the previous game came out flying and attacking, then on the 15th Derlei scored to give Porto the 1-0 lead and all now Porto was thinking was getting that 2-0 and the PAO team just could not handle Porto's attack, as they kept fouling and even went as far as Olisadebe taking a bad dive in the Porto penalty box. Then we had some great Vitor Baia momments as he made some great key saves. Same goes for the PAO keeper who denied Porto many times but in the 103th minute of extra time could not save a determained Derlei who put Porto in the final four with his two goals to make it 2-0 final. Now the final 4 of the Uefa cup will have FC Porto-Boavista winner going to the finals, both teams from Porto now will have a Uefa cup Derby! Today also was the day Deco was selected by Scolari to play for the selecção who will face Brazil on March,29th. Postiga played the first 84 minutes.

Porto stunned by PAO at Antas!!

13/03/2003.FC Porto faced PAO in the a sold out Antas as 44,500 watched Porto put on their worst display of the season, It seemed nothing could go in for Porto, they missed so many scoring chances. Nuno Capucho header set up Postiga only to see the young phenom miss. Later Capucho breaking clear to go head to head with Nikopolidis but driving into the side-netting just before halftime, Capucho only played the first 45 minutes. It was not Porto's day and later in the 70th PAO scored to get that so important away goal, Porto looked like they had a goal in extra time but it was disalowed as Postiga was indeed offside. Next game for Porto and Capucho is against U.Leiria for the Super Liga.
