New Jon/Ken split EP out on arena rock

Here is a little update on what Ken is doing at the moment:
"I am working on a new record, having been recording in Senegal, Seattle
and Stockholm. I will
continue to work on it over the spring. This summer & fall is the REM
tour. At the end of the year
I hope to travel to Cuba to perform and am also planning a tour of W.
Africa. There are the odd
Posies & Big Star shows here and there...some production work...etc."

First update of 2003. Ken Stringfellow has updated his homepage so go and have a look what he is up to. Here is a short quote from his page on possible activites between Ken & Jon recording some Posies material this year.
"There has been talk, in this 15th year since we started our career (16th if you count the fact that we played our first acoustic show and started recording Failure in '87), of engaging in some official activity, i.e., making some new music, not just touring as an oldies act".
And some good news about Jon from the nice people at pattern 25. Jon has been busy recording his new solo album and it will be out this spring. No title or exact release date as of this moment.
Nic at half a cow reported about a 7 inch limited single (500 copies) that theyīve released with Jon and Ken on it. Itīs called Deezleteens: On The Road/Starsign/Replacements' First Single (moo13). Here is some info on it. "Tom Morgan & Nic Dalton (from Sneeze) team up with Jon Auer & Ken Stringfellow (from the Posies) on powerpop number On The Road, backed with a country-rock version (with strings and banjo!) of Teenage Fanclub's Starsign (with Bill Gibson on bass and vocals) plus cover of both sides of Replacement's first single (done simultaneously!)".

Look out for Kenīs backing vocals on the Minus 5 album "Down with Wilco". He is also on tour with Minus5/Wilco over the next few weeks so have a look in the tour section for the dates. Ken Stringfellows new site is now online so go and have a look. Barbara, the Posies manager, reports: "Jon's starting work on a full-length album that should be out (fingers crossed) by mid-october.The full band version of the Posies will be headlining the fremont fair on saturday, june 22.Jon and Ken will be playing acoustically (and probably more soberly than last friday) at the green room on july 7 and 14.And Ken is doing two nights of shows at the sunset tavern on july 11 and 12 - thursday will be a solo show, friday with the long winters backing him up."

Report from Ken Stringfellow about the rumoured album : "We thought about it--and thought about doing it some other time! So
there are no current plans to record an album and nothing recorded--save for a version of a Beatles song we recorded for a film (that ended up not being in the film!)...as for me, I'm still touring for Touched but hope to record some new things this summer..."
Jon is working on material for a split EP with John Davis
from Superdrag, due out on Arena Rock. Heīs is also working on his soloalbum. No release date set at this time.
