About the Festival

Join us April 17 and 18, 2009 at NMSU-Grants in Grants, New Mexico. Enjoy workshops in acting and editing. Laura Mathis, Owner and Operator of Sol Acting Academy in Albuquerque NM, will present 2 acting workshops, one for adults and one for kids. Lexie Shabel (Gringa Productions) and Erin Hudson (Rotation Films) will share their documentary work as well as provide feedback on student movie projects. In addition to being a part of the feedback session for students, filmmaker Brad Stoddard will teach a workshop on editing with Final Cut Pro.

Festival Workshops

Friday, April 17 at 4pm: Acting Boot Camp for Kids
Designed for kids ages 5-12 (although this workshop is open to all ages for observation), we will explore all aspects of Acting and Drama in this fun and fast paced Acting Boot Camp! After learning fun warm up games you can teach your friends, everyone will get a chance to work onstage and explore how to create a real and believable character, how to show emotion onstage, learn hilarious improvisation games to sharpen your brain, and most of all, have a blast in Acting Boot Camp!

Friday, April 17 at 5:30pm: Improvisation for the Camera
Improvisation for the Camera is a fun and challenging workshop, not often offered but of great value to the Artist. We will use games, exercises, and improvised group work to develop skills and techniques needed to create fun characters and content for Improvised Performance on Camera, using the students as both the performer and for audience participation as we watch the action unfold on screen. A Question and Answer period will follow the class for open discussion.

Friday, April 17 at 7pm: Chat with Filmmakers Erin Hudson and Lexie Shabel.

Saturday, April 18 at 10am: Editing workshop with Erin Hudson

Saturday, April 18 at 11am: Feedback session on student movies with Erin Hudson, Lexie Shabel and Brad Stoddard

Saturday, April 18 at 2pm: Editing workshop with Brad Stoddard
