PLOVDIV CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
The
Plovdiv Chamber Orchestra was established in 1978. The ensemble consist of 15
elite string players of the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra. The Bulgarian
conductor Georgi Dimitrov is considered to be the founder of the chamber
orchestra. In 1982 its leadership has been taken over by Vassil Kazandjiev, an
eminent composer and conductor. The orchestra is well known for its first
performances of contemporary music, children concerts, and concert series.
The
prestige of the Plovdiv Chamber
Orchestra has been supported by an impressive number
of concert tours in Bulgaria (Festival of Chamber Music - Plovdiv, Dobrich
Festival of Chamber Music '81, Varna Summer '84, Thracia Summer '99) and abroad - Italy, Czech Republic, Slovac Republic,
Spain, Russia and Germany (Gewandhaus). With the orchestra worked such musicians
as Vassil Stefanov, Konstantin Iliev, Dimiter Manolov,
Nayden
Todorov, Mincho Minchev, Anatoly
Krastev...
