I adopted Missy's Foxy Kisses on September 24, 1999 from the Humane Society.  When I first saw her, she looked at me with those soft brown eyes, and raised a paw against the kennel door.  I melted, and knew she would be my new puppy, even before I got to take her out and play with her.  I took her home, and it didn't take long to discover that Missy is deaf, and was severely abused in the first 7 months of her life.  I took her to a behaviorist who helped me to understand Missy's perception of life, and it was money well spent.   Ron and I have been working with Missy, and she has learned hand signals for "sit" and "don't jump."  She is also losing her fear of men.

Missy is half Sheltie and half Red Heeler.  She got her name because she loves to give kisses, she looks like a red fox, and Ron's nickname for Jessie was Missy.

Missy loves to play ball and frisbee, and chewing on anything!  She's so excited to have a home....she had already been through three homes, and returned to the Humane Society, probably due to her deafness.  We love our little red headed girl, and she has brought so much joy and laughter back into our home.  Look at those big ears.  They are so fuzzy and sweet, and Ron says they are what sold me on little Missy!

Missy saves thing for rainy days!  She gets doggie cookies, and I find them stashed all over the house.  I watched her bury a chewy bone under the chair cushion one night, and when I cleaned out her kennel, I found 8 whole chewy bones and a tennis ball!  She also has a stash outside where she keeps all of her treasures in one place!  Our Missy is such sweet little girl.

Missy at 8 months.  She's a wiggle-worm on a pogo stick!  It's very difficult to keep her still long enough for pictures, but more are coming.  Doesn't she look like a little fox or coyote?
Missy at 4 1/2 years, standing on the windowsill of the front room window, watching for her Papa to come home.  She goes on Papa watch every night at the same time, and starts pig squealing as soon as she spots his car.

"No sign of Papa yet, Ma."
