St. George Family Camp
In A Cabin, In The Woods...
50 Years of Family, Friendship and Fellowship

Fifty years ago, families from the greater Buffalo area decided that it would be a good idea to get together for a week each summer.  As the years went by, new families began to come, some for a few hours, some for a few days.  Slowly camp began to be a week that everybody looked forward to each summer.  We began our tradition at Alleghany State park at Camp 11.  This is where many of our campers began to enjoy camp.  They still hold many memories of these years near and dear to thier heart.  Camp 10 was the site of camp in the late seventies and early eighties.  Soon, the numbers exceeded the availability and we went on down the road to Camp 12.  Many of the thirty and twenty somethings have very fond memories of Camp 12.  Unfortunately, Alleghany began to make it difficult to reserve a group camp.  As the nineties began, it was hit and miss with Alleghany.  In 1992, The campers changed locale to Zoar Valley Girl Scout Camp.  For those that were there, it was the camp of the infamous "Creek Hike". One year was probably enough for us there... Back to Alleghany we went.  As the new millenium came upon us, we, as a camp, began the search for a new location that was suitable for us, and that would afford us the opportunity to rent each year.  In 2002, we even missed a year as we were unable to find a camp.  In 2003, with the fine searching power of the director, Steve Sargent, we found Christian Heights Camp, in Little Valley, NY.  A quaint area that was suitable for the camp affords some updated amendities as well as a close proximity to Alleghany, where we could relive some past memories.  As we grow closer upon our 50th ANNIVERSARY YEAR in 2007, we look forward to fifty more years of friendship, family and fellowship.  We hope that you and your family can join us to help us in the celebration.
