We are happy to report that our Board of Chosen Freeholders voted unanimously to accept our Contract at their Stated Meeting last night. We have been without one since December 31, 2003. Our Max salary increased from $42,000 to $51,050 by July 2007. Also our starting salary increased from $23,500 to $24,750, starting July 2005, reaching $26,010 July of 2007. We also decreased the length of time to get to Max from 11 down to 9 years by Jan. 2007. Thanks to our great negotiating committee and to our Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Understaffed and Overcrowded

We are PBA 231 Correction Officers from Bridgeton, New Jersey.  We work in the County Jail in the County of Cumberland.  We are 115 members strong.   We maintain the safety and Security of housed Inmates while they are incarcerated within our facility.
We are facing a multi-faceted dilemma.  Our jail was originally built for 350 Inmates.  The Jail was built in 3 sections: Old Jail, New Jail and The Annex Pods.  (More)
