What's happening at Mandala.

 

 

The Mandala Folk Dance Center has, since 1971, been a favorite place in San Francisco for International Folk Dancers to meet and enjoy an evening of dancing and good company.   The first and last Thursdays of the month are party nights featuring all request dancing and no formal instruction.  The other Thursdays feature dance instruction by Edith Bourbin as well as request dancing.  Edith will teach dances from Stockton and other folk dance camps and workshops. A number of times a year, a local band will provide live music for dancing and special workshops by other teachers are provided.  In the Fall, Mandala has a folk dance picnic in Golden Gate Park.  For more information about the Senior class on Sundays, see below.  Check this site for listings of special events and workshops. 

February 5 (Thursday):  Iliana Bozhanova to teach Bulgarian dances at The Mandala Folk Dance Center, St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Bowcock Hall, 1399 – 43^rd Avenue, at Judah Street, San Francisco from 7:30 to 10:30 P.M.  Admission is $10.00.  For more information call (415) 648-8489, send email to paulbourbin@hotmail.com .

August 6 (Thursday):  The Mandala Folk Dance center will be closed this week only for floor refinishing.  They will reopen next week.

October 10 (Saturday):  Mandala’s annual Picnic-in-the-Park at Speedway Meadow, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.  Admission is free. Bring something to share.  For more information, call (415) 648-8489 or send email to paulbourbin@hotmail.com

The Mandala Folk Dance Center is located at: Bowcock Hall (formerly Wardwell Hall), St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 43rd Avenue. at Judah Street, San Francisco, CA.  The Mandala meets every Thursday from 7:30 – 10.30 P.M. Beginner's instruction starts at 7:30, followed by requests, then intermediate/advanced instruction and more requests. On Party Nights, the first and last Thursday of every month, there is no intermediate/advanced instruction. Admission is $4.00 except for special workshops and events. Mandala also sponsors a folk dance class at the Golden Gate Park Senior Center at 37th Ave and Fulton Street, San Francisco every Sunday from 10:15 A.M. to 12.15 P.M..
