I opened
What's for Dinner, LLC Personal Chef Service in August 2000, shortly
after moving to Madison, Wisconsin from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Since that time, What's for Dinner has become the most successful
personal chef service in Madison, and has been featured in many local
newspapers, magazines, radio and TV news shows.
Recently I collaborated with writer Terese Allen and the Madison Area Community
Supported Agriculture Coalition to produce the cookbook From Asparagus
to Zucchini: Cooking Farm-Fresh Seasonal Produce, Volume III. I contributed about 70 original recipes and assisted Terese with the testing and editing of the
recipes in this book that highlights cooking fresh, seasonal,
local foods.
I graduated
number one in my class from the Chef Training Program at The Restaurant
School in Philadelphia. I worked as a cook in restaurants and catering
prior to going to work as sous chef at Fresh Fields, the largest and
most successful gourmet takeout market in Philadelphia. My recipes have
won awards and competitions, and have been adopted by an east coast
gourmet take-out chain.
I specialize
in cooking with "whole foods'" in other words, no processed
foods, all-natural ingredients, a good variety of vegetarian and vegan
foods, as well as healthily prepared meat and seafood dishes. Most importantly,
I specialize in foods that reheat well.
As a premier
member of the United States Personal Chef Association, I earned the
USPCA personal chef certificate. I have worked for the USPCA as a
mentor/ trainer to new members of the association. I am also certified
by the National Restaurant Association in sanitation/ safe food handling,
and in nutrition. I am the only personal chef in Madison who has been
inspected and licensed by the City Health Department, and my business
is fully insured.
I enjoy
traveling, reading about the history and culture of all lands, and I
am an adventurous eater. I draw my culinary inspiration from these travels,
my reading, and the cornucopia of foods I grew to love in my native
New York City. My husband and I have two school aged children.
