The"Orpheus" Folk Orchestra was founded in 1980."Orpheus" is a group of professionally trained young musicians.The leader Georgi Yanev(violin) has graduated from the Plovdiv High School of Music.Orlin Pamukov (clarinet) graduated at the Bulgarian State Conservatoire in Prof.Petko Radev's class.Dimitar Stanev(piano) masters at the Higher Music and Pedagogical Institute in Plovdiv.Toncho Tonev (accordion) graduated at the Bulgarian State Conservatoire and Ventzislav Ivanov(percussions).The orchestra's soloist Pepa Yaneva was born in the village of Belastitza,Plovdiv district.Her family is known for its rich musical traditions.She has graduated from the High School of Music in the village of Shiroca Luka,Smolian District.Pepa Yaneva is one of the most popular and in demand singer in Thrace.The"orpheus"Orchestra stands apart from the other orchestra of this kind.It has an appearance of its own and unique manner of performans,thus bridging the gap between the present-day audiencetaste and the traditional Bulgarian musical folk art.The group wins the hearts of its listeners by uniting a number of features: atmosphere,melody,improvisation and specific sound.Another novelty they introduce is the skill of both solo and ensemble improvisation with clear tone,vividness and virtuoso technique.They know and perform a great number of melodies.You would say they have mastered the Bulgarian folk music as their own mother tongue!Georgi Yanev(violin) is a muscian-narrator-his talent shows in each solo performans and puts its imprint on his keen ear for melody and rhythm.His improvisations are marked by freshness and exuberans,being alweys highly personal and original.Yanev remains second to none even by virute of his ideas reflected in a given solo performance.His tone is clear and well-mastered and his technique can be claimed the best one among all violinists performing Bulgarian folk music.For the fresh and lively horo dances,melodically attractive and harmonious,"Orpheus"is welcomed by thousands of young admirers who though not well familiar with the Bulgarian folklore engoy and prefer the performances of this remarkable orchestra.The "Orpheus" perform also to excellently gypsy folk music.
