The Hero Tracker is now available. The link was broken, and I didn't find out until recently. Sorry to all who wanted to use the program.

My name is Mike McAfee and I have been playing the Hero System since 1986. (God that is like 17 years of the Hero System.) I still think Hero Games is one of the better systems of gaming I have seen on the market, since its release in the early 1980's. Through the years of playing the game, there were many innovations like the spreadsheet and eventually Heromaker.  All, which helped keep the rule pirates under control.  The Hero System has its problems - but does not all role-playing systems?

The idea is to have fun.

Well it's taken me over two years to get my act together and make additions to this page. I've been concentrating on my Masters Degree, and now that its done. I can get on with other projects - like getting these page updated from the decade of material my gamers provided. These games are really responsible for the worlds that were created, and I owe them a great deal of gratitude. In the following pages, I hope to share the worlds of imagination they helped to create and populate over the last seventeen years. The characters, stories, and antics of Pulp Heroes to Super Heroes who have encountered the first generation of CyberHero play tested weapons and equipment.

I have written a few articles for Hero Games, the most notable being a co-author
of CyberHero. I hope to share some stories and modules I have written for tournaments, and characters that were generated over the role-playing history of the various worlds’ friends and I have created.

The campaigns in progress for  the last few years have been centered on the idea of the Millennium and some issues from DC Comics and Star Trek. I have been weaving the ideas of the Eugenics War into my story, and the campaign Desert Star was the result of those efforts.  With the end of Desert Star adventure, it brought about the end of the Superhero.  They became legend or myth.

In the follow up
campaign, the heroes started in the twenty fifth century aboard the Space Station Deep Space 9. As the descendants of the Desert Star heroes, these Star Fleet Officers become heroes in a world on the brink of change.  This Campaign ended from lack of time and interest.  The Group wanted to play a more traditional Superhero Game. Hence, the creation of Champion City and the Champion City Crusaders.  All Character sheets are available for the player characters.  A map of the city and a great deal of background information created by the players. This was one of the most detailed games created I've ever run, and the world was populated by the imaginations of the players. It truly was a comic book world, and it was fun to play in.

The players: Donald Blaylock, Michi Wada, Tim Eyring, Michael Wellbaum, Charlie Crawford, Lawrence Yao, and the many other people who played in my various games have earned my respect for their intelligence, creativity, and problem solving abilities over the years. Without them, this game would have never occurred. However, there is one who is always at the table in spirit adding a new spin to the campaign, or foiling a perfectly good villain plot. Michael Wellbaum is no longer with us, and I am very proud to say he was and always will be a good friend.

A note: Some of the artwork for this page was created using Heromachine. It is a limited hero picture generator, but when you have limited ability to create what you want - it does not job. Second, I modified some photos to make the characters I wanted from model found on the internet, hence the legal statement. Third, Don Blaylock and his wonderful renders of various heroes. He does great work and is listed in my links. I hope he continues to create more hero renders for this site.
