Introduction

My name is Deborah Carmichael and I am the GENUKI on-line parish clerk for the West Dorset parishes of Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Monkton Wyld, Symondsbury, Whitchurch Canonicorum  & Wootton Fitzpaine.
Anciently, these parishes were part of the old Dorsetshire Hundred of Whitchurch.

important please read

I am a family historian &  not affiliated with the church or local Parish Council in any way.

My focus is on the pre-20th century inhabitants of the above parishes.

I cannot reunite you with long lost friends or trace living persons, try 192.com
 -
House history etc is outside the scope of my endeavours,
enquiries of this nature are better directed to the County Records Office or local history societies.

Please be aware that I do not live in the area.

All information supplied is for the purpose of private study and research only.

About my Parish Resources

Records are available for look-up by contacting me.

I use primary source material to make my transcriptions and indexes.
Remember, transcriptions are subject to human error &
indexes should be regarded as finding aids only,
so for verification purposes I also recommend that
you check the original source yourself.

Don't forget you can search an ever-expanding on-line database of Dorset records

Etiquette
important please read this too

Sometimes life gets in the way of genealogy & my inbox runneth over!
Please be patient. I'll get back to you as soon as I can but
I can't necessarily guarantee a two week turn around.

It may be stating the obvious, but it is courteous to say
thank you if I send you information.

Without that acknowledgement please do not expect any further assistance from me.

 Look-up Request Guidelines
important please read this as well

I only offer free look-ups as they relate to the parishes & records named on this site.

Please limit your look-up request to one parish at a time.

When making your request help me to help you by providing as much specific detail as you can.

Please don't ask me to undertake speculative surname searches in a parish
if you do not have any known connection with that parish.

I do not undertake blanket surname searches for the purpose of one-name studies.
