| Let's talk about Goldfish | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| Hi there. My name is Tammy. I am involved in a project to create a Canadian variety of Goldfish. This will be a "fancy" fish - white body with red fins, and a red tail shaped like a maple leaf. This project will be a few years in the making, but we are optimistic. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| Present Stage of "Canakin Project": | Featured Tip: | ||||||||||||||||||||||
I have purchased 3 fish so far, which will be the foundation stock for the Canakin. "Angel" is a red/white fantail female. She is young, but I know she's female because she was laying eggs in October! She is mostly white with a red "mask". Samantha, I am only presuming is a female. She has good, bright red coloring on her mostly white body. She is a Ryukin. Neither of these fish have the proper markings, but Angel also has a nice, long tailfin, but Sam does not. ![]() My third fish is Maple, sex unknown, but I suspect male at this point. Maple is white and red - but not a true red, more of an orange. Maple possesses the fault of a 3-point tail, which is frowned upon for Ryukins, but is perfect for the Canakin. He also has fairly close markings, with a stripe down his back and red on all of his fins. ![]() |

| Feed frozen, but thawed peas to your fish for a treat. It also helps reduce constipation. Remove the shells first, and break up for smaller fish. |
