The 2009 U.S. Senior Open and the 1st U.S. Women's Open
will be held concurrently with this year's 5th Annual Okie Chess Festival!
This year's events will have something for everyone, including the Okie Open and Okie Masters round-tobin.
All these events will be again held at the Trade Winds Central Best Western — Site of the 2008 FKB U.S. Championship Qualifier.

The U.S. Women's Open is a newly-formed USCF national event open to all women. The winner will receive an invitation to the U.S. Women's (Invitational) Championship. The Senior Open winner gets an invitation to the next U.S. Championship. Here is the current TLA information available (more details later).
Sept. 5-7 2009 U.S. Senior Open

Results — 4th Annual Okie Chess Festival
The 2008 OCFest took place August 30-September 1 and featured two strong 8-player round robins and a 53-player Open Swiss. The events were directed by IA Frank K. Berry. The Masters was won by IM Bryan Smith. The Challengers was won by Nelson Lopez II and Mihail Bantic. Lopez and Bantic qualify for next year's masters.


The Open was won by Tim Steiner, James Long, George Trammell, and Chuck Johnson; all with 5.5/7 scores. Qualifiers from the Open to next year's round robins are: Steiner and Long.

Results' 3rd Annual Okie Chess Festival
The 2007 OCFest took place May 26-28 and featured three 8-player round robins and a 48-player Open Swiss. Players from 13 states participated! The Open was smoothly directed by Frank K. Berry (just days after he directed the
U.S. Championship in Stillwater). Steve Wharry directed the round robins. The RR crosstables are below. Movsisyan, Chua, Smith, Gossell, and Holliman won qualification spots in next year's round robins. The Open was won by IM Ron Burnett (with 6.5 points), who stayed after participating in the U.S. Championship. He was held to a draw by Courtney Jamison, who also finished second (6.0). Qualifiers from the Open to next year's round robins are: Courtney Jamison (TX), Lance Umbarger (AR), and Adam Bulleigh (OK).

The OKIE OPEN 7-round Swiss system was won by Jim Berry with a 6-1 undefeated score. Isaiah Jesch of Kansas won the U1600 prizes with an impressive 4.5 score. They qualify for next year's Challengers.
