Work on the summit trail began in the mid-1920s and continued for almost a dozen years until 1936.
The experiences of the trail builders are interesting and filled with adventure and hardships.
The summit trail is still used today though it is quite overgrown and extremely muddy. The pic to the right is of a better section o f the trail.
