The Wind Chime Page
Hi folks.  This page comes to you from Touché & Scroogie.  In March of 2000 Touché started a thread at The GardenWeb, offering what information we had on the building and tuning of tubular metal windchimes.  Since then we have been inundated with requests for info packages.

We have sent out more than 800 packages over the past few months, and, quite frankly,
Touché's fingers are getting sore.  Hence this page.  We are attempting to keep things straight, clean and simple here, as one of my least favourite aspects of the net are graphics heavy, information light pages that take eons to load.

What you'll find here is pretty much just information.  There's a "Word" doc with the technical details of tuning your windchimes, including several "Excel" tables.  We'll even stick in a couple of pix of windchimes we've made in the past (in fact that's a couple of 'em off to the left).

Also, we're including some "Excel" sheets and a "Word" doc from Lee Hite, a retired Electrical Engineer we met a few months ago. He spent a good deal of time in figuring out why metal tubes act just as they do in the "sonic" realm.  They get quite technical, but for those interested, they're quite a good read.  His "Excel" sheets are the result of much experimentation and research, and as such should be an excellent guide in helping you cut and tune a set of chimes that will sound like you want them to. Lee has many other interests as well, and is willing to share them with you at
his site.
What's Here
First, here's ALL the files in one ZIPped file.
"Excel" Sheets

(For those who don't own "Excel", get the "Excel" viewer
HERE to view and print these docs.)

These sheets are the result of much more research than went into the tables included with the "Tuning your chimes" doc below. You're advised to refer to these when making any desisions on chime building. They were all created by
Lee Hite.
