The Northwood American Women's Club
Northwood, England
The North American Women's Club (NAWC) is based in the northwest London suburb of Northwood and draws its members from the international expatriate community living in the surrounding areas. The club's purpose is to provide opportunities for members to meet new people, become involved in various activities, and support local charities.

The NAWC holds general meetings every month from September through June. These usually take place on the first Thursday of the month, from 9:30 to noon, and feature either a guest speaker or a group luncheon. We welcome any prospective members to join these meetings; no invitation is necessary, and a creche (children's nursery) is available! Meetings are held at St. John's Church Hall, 6 Hallowell Road, Northwood. For a map detailing this area, click
here, then type "HA6 1DW" in the "quick search" box.
In addition to the monthly general meetings, the NAWC offers members social functions such as coffee mornings and dinner gatherings; opportunities to discover the greater London area through day trips to places of local interest; groups outings further afield, such as our regular visits to the potteries of Stoke-on-Trent; a chance to contribute to local charities through our yearly craft fair; and interest groups as a way to develop friendships and explore new kinds of activities. Some of our most popular interest groups include:
Antiques: Travels together to visit local auction houses and fairs

Bible Study: A non-denominational group that discusses the Bible and related books

Book Club: Meets regularly to informally discuss interesting books of all types

Bunco: A fun game for a girls' night out

Couples Gourmet Dining:
A chance for members and spouses to socialize and discover new cuisines and recipes

Day and Evening Stitch: Meets regularly to socialize over craft projects

Moms 'n' Tots: A chance for moms with little ones to have adult conversation while providing their kids with a fun and safe environment

Quilters: Meets regularly to socialize over quilting projects; creates the grand prize quilt for our charity craft fair

Walkers and Ramblers: Meets weekly for a walk through the beautiful English countryside, followed by lunch in a pub
These are just some of the interest groups we offer. We highly recommend our interest groups as the best way to make new friends and get involved in the club. We add new interest groups every year, so if one of the above list doesn't appeal, you can always start your own! Just contact our Interest Groups chair at a general meeting.
Although the majority of our membership is North American, throughout our history we have drawn members from all over the world--including Europe, South American, Japan, and Australia. For more information about our membership requirements, click here.
