| Northstream Alinghi on quail, this hunting season in Tasmania | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Northstream Alinghi (Entrepreneur of Jonsmae - Lapphaugens Moulin) is expecting pups next month. She has previously produced a good litter sired by Wingfield Will (Entrepreneur of Jonsmae -Wingfield Velvet). Several of the young dogs from that combination is showing great potential, including the two females Thelma & Louise, both sold to Tasmania. | Two attempts using frozen semen from the Norwegian dog Skaididalens Chagall II were unsuccessful, so what remains of it will be tried on different bitches sometime in the future. This time Alinghi's partner is the young English import Upperwood Quailpoint. (Photo below.) |

| In the back of the pedigree Quailpoint has some of the same dogs as were behind Upperwood White Cliff, imported to Denmark in 1990s. Cliff was an excellent bird finder and a dog I liked, but unfortunately proved to be sterile. Behind Quailpoint is also some of the Desmontes brothers (Frenchmen with strong Scottish links) Petimonaster and Petit Monastere blood. Those lines have also come to Norway, via Iceland, and done well there. Most importantly, in my view, is that Quailpoint also has a strong presence of Knocksmall / The Blue Maestro / Tyone Banner. |

| I'm in contact with Patrick Casey in Ireland. Together with his father Michael, who bred The Blue Maestro, they run kennel Kilkinock. The Blue Maestro and his father Tyone Banner were two of the most important sires in Irish/British setter breeding, and also found in my Northstream setters. Michael Casey mated his bitch Cranna Lass twice with Tyone Banner and once with the equally important Norwegian import Storeskars G. Snorre (also present in my own lines). The Blue Maestro and his sister The Blue Rose were from the first litter with Tyone Banner. From the last litter they kept Kilkinock Vogue. She was mated with Knocksmall Lemon Doc and from that combination they kept Kilkinock Chasse. Chasse was in turn bred to New Edition, one of the best performing setters in recent years - owned and handled by Tom Dunne. Today the Caseys also have dogs sired by Lefanta Monty (bred around Snorre and The Blue Maestro lines) and by Tullycroman Jack. Jack was bred and owned by Paddy Peoples and he is the sire of one of the most interesting dogs at present, Ardera Goldie (also owned by Peoples). He was also the man who had Tyone Banner, who of course is behind all these. |

| Pictured to the left is Michael Casey with Knocksmall Blue Boy in his right hand and The Blue Maestro in his left. Pictured above is The Blue Maestro set on birds. If I remember correctly, Henri Desmontes (one of the brothers mentioned above) once told me the picture was taken near his place in Scotland. The Blue Maestro was later sold to Japan, like many other great British dogs of the past. Pictured on the left is also his sister The Blue Rose set on birds in Ireland. The Irish contribution continues! |
