| Internet Radio Linking Project (IRLP) is a method of using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology to link together two or more Amateur Radio stations. The purpose of a repeater is to extend the range of stations on otherwise local line-of-sight frequencies. Linking multiple repeaters together using radio (RF Linking) has been around for a long time, extending the range further. With IRLP it's possible to link Amateur Radio stations anywhere on the world using the Internet, the ultimate in range extension. IRLP Node 3105 is located at the Pacific County Megler Radio Site, in the hills northeast of the town of Chinook, WA. In the picture to the left, you can see the radio site (with the tower) and at the top of the picture, the city of Astoria, Oregon, across the Columbia River to the south. IRLP Node 3105 is available for the use of any licensed Amateur. No club affiliation or other other special qualification is required. You do not have to contact the owner before controlling this node. No pre-codes are required, just send the four-digit number for the desired node. Please feel free to use the station while you are in the area. The radio coverage includes most of the Long Beach Peninsula, the cities of Long Beach and Ilwaco, the towns of Seaview and Chinook. On the Oregon side of the Columbia, easy access is available in most of Astoria, Seaside and the Knappa-Svensen area, east up river. For Amateur stations operating marine mobile, coverage includes the Columbia River from Pillar Rock, down stream to the mouth and at least 20 miles out to sea. |

| Node 3105 is a WIN System Affilliate station, and its normal idle condition is connected via the Dallas Reflector 9453. You are welcome to join the QSO in progress. If there is no local participant, you are equally welcome to disconnect and use the node to connect to another node, if you wish. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The command link is full-duplex, so you do NOT have to wait for a break in the conversation to send command tones. If you key up over an ongoing conversation (assuming it is not a LOCAL conversation) they won't hear your tones and the command should execute. First, ensure the node is disconnected. Use the normal "73" command (or on this node only "#") to disconnect. Key up and Identify, then let the repeater drop. To connect to a node, send the four-digit node number, available on the IRLP web site. Click here for the list of node numbers. Remember the three most important things on IRLP are "Pause, pause, pause". Pause before you key up, to ensure the channel is clear. When you key up, pause for a full second before sending commands or speaking, to give the system time to come on line. And, pause once you unkey to listen for anyone wanting to jump in. When done, disconnect (as above) and reconnect to the WIN System by sending a 'star' (*), a one-digit command code unique to this node. The WIN System is a network of over 40 repeaters, many in California, but also 13 states and 3 countries. Feel free to join the QSO! |

| This repeater shares a rack with one of the eleven linked BeachNet repeaters, at the Megler site, overlooking Astoria Oregon. Although the IRLP (Node 3105) repeater is not linked into the BeachNet system as a rule, it can be linked to under special circumstances. Please contact a BeachNet control operator to arrange this. The Pacific County Amateur Radio Club 2-meter repeater (146.860) in Ilwaco can be linked to the 444.925 IRLP repeater, providing a 2-meter port for using Node 3105. Contact a club member to command this link on. |
