| The FOREST Group (Feminists of Oregon Really Excited about Seeing Trees) is an outdoors activities social group for lesbians based in Portland, Oregon. We hike, bike, snowshoe, ski, kayak, camp, backpack and a wide variety of other things. The women in the group are of all ages and have varying skill levels. The FOREST Group was established in 1983. The goal was to create a cooperative that could support lesbians interested in a wide variety of social and outdoor activities. Currently, we have over 85 members. All FOREST Group activities are cooperative ventures. Each participant is responsible for providing her own equipment and choosing outings appropriate to her skill and fitness level. Any Participant who is uncertain of her skill and/or fitness level and has no prior experience with any given outdoor activity should first consult a physician. The often wet and generally unpredictable Northwest climate requires appropriate clothing and adequate food and water - remember your doggies and kiddies too! Check with event leader regarding acceptability of dogs and/or children on individual events - if not clearly stated. All event participation is "At Your Own Risk". All events are subject to change - life is just that way - but remembering to communicate as soon as possible and as often as necessary should reduce the impact of such changes. There is never a per event fee (excluding campouts), however, we do ask that all participants help cover the cost of carpooling as needed.
