| MUSIC MEDITATION with Sitar & Tanpura |
| Our presentations are musical sequences designed to be conducive to relaxation and meditation, not to be confused with expectations of a "recital" or "performance". Each session is a series of unique compositions utilizing scales, drones, and improvisations based on Indian Classical Ragas. We also integrate basic principles now recognized in contemporary Western music therapy. Clar Monaco's study of sitar began in 1993 under the tutelage of Mushtaq Husain Khan, exponent of the Indore Gharana Indian Classical Music tradition, and Patric Marks. Clar continues advanced studies with Pt. Ronu Majumdar, world renown Bansuri artist of the Maihar Gharana. | Welcome to our website! We are Clar & GiGi Monaco. Since 1998, we have been providing a "musical soundscape" for Chicago area yoga/meditation sessions. "As an inspirational experience, the music can be quite effective. The mesmerizing drones of the tanpura...sitar passages that are tranquil, yet exhilarating at the same time." On a philosophical and scientific level, sound vibrations emanating from the instruments are picked up by our auditory nerve receptors which send stimulating, electrical messages to energy centers (chakras) along the spine. The results can be physically therapeutic and spiritually enchancing. Music Meditation is beneficial to everyone at some level, either mentally, emotionally, physically or spiritually. We have had sessions with practitioners from a wide variety of disciplines, including Buddhist, Bahai, Christian, Hindu, non-denominational, Kriya Yoga and TM (Transcendental Meditation). |
