December is here, and this time on KXLU, I pay tribute to a great American Wacko: Evel Knievel! Crazy idiots jumping motorcycles over things is common today, but it used to be that there was only ONE crackpot flying over stuff, and that's why I honor Evel, one of the patron saints of the Nimrods. Also in this show, you'll hear John Waters talking about the making of the movie Pink Flamingos! The file is hosted at Megaupload, so lemme know if all goes well when you try to download this 140mb file! Click on Nosfera..er..make that Evel this week, then on the new page type in the 3-digit code and hit enter! On the next page that appears, find the column headed "free". At the bottom of that column, you should see a countdown, usually starting around 45 or so. When that gets to zero, a new download button should appear. Hit that button and it should start the download. That's how it's supposed to work!

Direct from 1974 and the kindness of Brent Turner, we present a full episode of the Top 40/Sci-Fi radio show, The OIDAR Wavelength! Seems Brent was at a local swap meet and came across a whole box of OIDAR Wavelength reel to reel tapes! And he sent some programs to me, so now I share one with you! Remember, the year is 1974. In Los Angeles, the Wavelength aired on KKDJ, a typical Top 40 station, usually close to the midnight hour. The premise? The OIDAR Wavelength is a musical program from the future, playing oldies from the 20th Century, and somehow, we in the seventies are able to hear the program due to some space/time continiuum. In between the (sometimes good, sometimes horribly wretched) musical fodder, a mysterious announcer known only as "Programmer #9" relates twisted news and human interest stories from the future, the programs' present. Think of it as THX-1138 meets Casey Kasem! Included with the broadcast are several commercials, including one for an outfit called Tapeworks. When you hear the ad, you will feel much, much better about your job! This is program #28 from the series.
