Murmansk NZ is Carol and Iain Fleming. Not only do we have Samoyeds, we have Tammy (a Corgi-Dachshund cross inherited from my sister), 5 cats, 2 rabbits, chickens/roosters, a donkey, two alpaca,two Kune Kune pigs and a gorgeous turtle. We live on a small holding 28kms out of Christchurch in the South Island of New Zealand.

Iain is enjoying working as a junior engine reconditioner. Being quite mechanically minded he is enjoying this. A bit of a change after spending all his working life as an electronics technician. I work for a consulting engineering/surveying company as a Personal Assistant. Married for 29 years, we have had Samoyeds for most of that time, registering our kennel for breeding in 1984.

Since then we have successes and failures with litters produced. We have had highs and heartaches over the years.

I was Secretary of the Dominion Samoyed Club for almost 20 years but have left that position in capable hands with a small hardworking committee which still labours on. I still keep my hand in being co-ordinator for the DSC Sam Rescue and the Santa Parade. Iain was a member of the DSC Committee for several years and was “chief” handler for some time until I caught the bug. This year I have had the great honour of being made a life member of the Dominion Samoyed Club.

We are both involved in speedway at the Ruapuna track, a season usually running from November to April annually. Iain is the head vehicle checker (scrutineer) for the Ruapuna track and also runs a Three-Quarter Midget (TQ) which we are part owners of. We are lucky that one of the other owners is the driver and Mike does very well at it too. I toil away in the secretarial position for the TQ Club and the Christchurch Speedway Association also. Oh what it is to be able to type!

We are both followers of most motor sports and rugby, you can see that we are kept busy!
