Thanks for visiting my site! I'm so excited to be part of the St. Joan of Arc - St. George School in Chicopee and to be making history by opening up the very first Pre-Kindergarten classroom (2006) in the school!
Our Pre-Kinder class has a capacity of 20 students with one teacher and a full time aide. We offer a five day program, a 3 day (Mon. Wed. Fri.) as well as a two day program (Tues. Thurs.) for your varied needs.
The Curriculum is teacher-created . In keeping with the parochial school system, the curriculum has a challenging academic focus, which sets us apart from a Daycare, but is developmentally appropriate. Our students learn basic kindergarten readiness skills with attention to process rather than product. Children rotate to different Centers throughout the day and enjoy 'Specials' in the afternoons, including occasional lessons in Science, Social Studies, Language Arts and of course, Religion! I employ a Phonemic Awareness program (starts in January) for Kindergarten Readiness and pre-reading skills.
New this year (2008) will be the additional "specials" of Physical Education with our gym teacher (please wear sneakers and pants on Thursdays), music with Miss Anderson, and a special storybook time twice a week with Mrs. Tsagaris. I am confident that these additional activities will enhance your child's preschool experience.
Please note that all students must be at least 3.9 years of age by September 1st and should be FULLY toilet trained.
I am committed to open communication with families. Please feel free to see me, email me, or send me a note at any time.
Parents will receive a newsletter each month. In addition, notes will go home regularly , and I have posted a bulletin board outside of the classroom for important dates or happenings.
Parents should HAND CARRY any notes or correspondence in , in the morning. The only bags that are checked are those of children who came to the classroom without a parent(who came from Before School Program). I strive to answer all notes and emails by the following day.

The Pre-K classroom has gotten a computer and we are now online. Many thanks to Mrs. Marra ! (YAY!!!!!) In the meantime, I have created a page that I hope your child will enjoy at home with lots of links to the best of the best Pre-K sites (IMHO)
