Introduction    Congratulations!!  You and your friends have been given the challenge of opening a new Pet Shop at Betz.  This Pet Shop will be very special and will have the following animal groups: mammals, insects, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and birds.

Task      You and your friends have been given the job of opening a new Pet Shop.  Each team member will investigate and research a specific animal.  Your task will be to classify and investigate each animal according to their specific group. Each team will create their own Pet Shop.  Teamwork and working together will be very important to the success of the Pet Shop.

Process 1.  You and your team members will go to a specific web site to research information about your specific animal group. 2.  Each member will research a specific animal under their group. Each person will select a different animal.  Look at the chart below to view your choices. 3.  Each person will write a report on the animal they selected. Click here to get your report form. 4.  Team members will then meet and come up with characteristics of their specific animal group. 5 Click here and print the form you will be using to record the information about your animal group. 6.  Groups will then report their findings to the class. 7.  Each person will record specific information about each animal group as presentations are given.  You will record the characteristics of each animal group on a chart. Click here to get your chart. 8.  After all six groups have reported your team will make their own Pet Shop.  You will group the animals according to their specific characteristics.  Your team should have six different areas in your store.  You may make your Pet Shop using any materials available in the classroom.  Use your imagination, creativity and have fun!!
