What is Walk With Me all about? |
|
| Walk With Me is an opportunity for anyone and everyone to walk -- or support a walker -- and raise funds for Easter Seals. |
|
|
|
|
|
Easter Seals services help people learn to walk, talk and perform other skills essential to daily living; find fulfilling jobs; reach individualized goals early in life; age with dignity; and participate in camping and recreation programs. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Help Children Like Ashlyn who have disabilities. Ashlyn has Spina Bifida, she is 17 months old. Support Children like her. |
|

The reason I have decide to participate in the Easter Seals Walk With Me Fredericksburg is because of my 17 month old daughter, Ashlyn. She has Spina Bifida at C-1, which is at the base of her head. She also has Life Threatening Reflux, a G-Tube, and Severe Food Allergies. When she was born I was told that she would never live, nor do anything that children do, like talk, breathe, eat, or use her arms on her own, they also said that she would not be of normal inteligence. But with orginizations such as Easter Seals my daughter can use her arms, breathe, & eat on her own. She is crawling and beigning to walk and talk. |

Also because Marti Clark was born with Down syndrome, doctors offered her parents little hope for a happy, healthy future. Her father remembers one physician giving them a reference book, or “the book of doom and gloom,” as Marty refers to it today. But another doctor referred the family to Easter Seals, and ever since that time, Easter Seals has given them help and hope that they could make their dreams for Marti -- and her wishes for herself -- come true. |

Today, Marti is active in gymnastics, her church choir and horseback ridingg -- she even won first place in a horseback riding show against other kids of all abilities! She loves attending school, riding the bus with her friends and playing with her dog, Sheila. |
|
|
|
Ask yourself, where would Marti's family have turned without Easter Seals? More than a million people -- including people in your community -- count on us every year. We are counting on you to reach out to your friends and family for their support. Each additional donation I receive and each walker I recruit multiplies the difference for people like Marti! |
