Michael Sharpe Painter and Sculptor
.
I am self-taught, with many years
of practice, mistakes, observation, practice, observation,
mistakes, practice and endless enjoyment. I am fascinated with the
human body, which I believe is the most natural of beauties.
My artwork consists of a wide range of figure
studies and dancers to landscapes and flowers. I work with
pastels, oils, pencil, watercolours, acrylics and anything else I
can get my hands on . My sculptures range from
natural abstracts in wood to complex figure studies in a wide
variety of media.
Presently, my artwork is housed
in my Art
Gallery & Workshop in Athitos, Halkidiki in
Greece
I could call myself an "Artist",
but believe that it is a Special title that only other people can give you,
if they believe that is what you are. It is something people aspire to be
and what keeps so many of us trying. You can go to school
or teach yourself and come out an "Artist" ( Websters
definition = one who professes and practices an imaginative art or a person skilled in one of the fine
arts), but what you have learned is how to use tools and techniques. Anybody can learn those things, but it is that special spark of creativity that makes
an "Artist".
