This is a really fun card to give and receive!
It would make a great Valentine!
Let's get started and make one!

(Click the Flower head to see a sample.)

Here's what you need:

One piece of cardstock
stamps and inks
markers or pencils
paper cutter
scissors or craft knife

Step 1: Cut the cardstock in half so that there are two 5 1/2" by 8 1/2" pieces.
Cut on of these pieces in half to make two 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" pieces.
Cut one of these in half to make two 5 1/2" by 2 1/8" pieces.

Step 2: Take the larger piece of cardstock and fold it carefulliy into 4 panels,
5 1/2" by 2 1/8". Do this like an acordion so it comes out evenly.

Step 3: Unfold the outer panels so only the center is still folded.
Use scissors or craft knife to cut in from the center fold
to the creases made by the outer panels.
(
It is best to make just three to start with, which will make four horizontal strips.)
Your two center panels should now have continuous slits through the center fold
and ending at the fold of the outer panels.

Step 4: Take one of the 5 1/2" by 2 1/8" pieces and weave it through the slits
(over, under, over, under) and slide it over to one side.
Weave the other piece through.
(
You might need to trim these pieces slightly to get them to fit, but you want the fit to be snug.)

Step 5: Close the two side panels over the woven part and you will have
a surface to decorate for the front of the card which opens in the middle.
The hard part is stampin the inside center panel.
(
You should practice to get the knack of stamping over the wovan part.
Or stamp individually as in the sample.)

Step 6: Now for the tricky part. Fold the card back,
away from you, along the center fold line.
Insert your thumb into one of the vertical slots you see along the edge
of the fold, and pull the fold apart to turn the card inside out!
Now stamp or wirte on this new blank surface which is the hidden one!
You can even turn it over and do the two surfaces on the back, too!

When you send this to a friend, be sure to include a note on how
to open to reveal the hidden message!
 Wasn't that so much fun!?

Take me back to the schoolhouse.
