Nancy Fleming is currently a University of California certified Master Gardener.  With this in the bag, she works as in habitat restoration and non-toxic gardening alternatives.  She is also host and associate producer of a PBS broadcast "Sewing Today".   Uniquely, she had won the talent competition of the Miss America Pageant by giving a fashion show of the clothes she had designed.

Prior to winning Miss America, Maria Fletcher  was a Radio City Music Hall Rockette. An interesting quote comes along with her reign as apparently her gown had caught fire while she was on the Miss America float at the Orange Bowl.  Luckily, someone had spotted the fire and extinguishing it instantly saving Miss America herself, her gown, and the float from any further disaster.  And this happened without Maria noticing a single thing!

Jacquelyn's talent presentation in the Miss America contest was an original skit that included singing and dancing. After touring with the Fred Waring Band and completing her engagements as Miss America, Jackie returned to Northwestern where she earned her degree in Speech with an emphasis in television in 1964. Jacquelyn is a stroke survivor.  She had suffered a stroke in 1970 which left her speechless and paralyzed. After months of intensive therapy, though, today she considers herself almost fully recovered and travels nationwide as a motivational speaker. She is actively involved with the National Stroke Association and American Heart Association and has been recognized for her efforts and courage being a stroke survivor.  She presently lives in Ohio.

Since winning Miss America, Donna has reaped numerous successes.  She is an accomplished author, university instructor, television hostess, television producer, professional motivational speaker and civic leader.  Her Miss America scholarship program allowed her to complete her Bachelor's and Masters Degree in Speech, Drama, Television and Film from the University of Arkansas.

Vonda Van Dyke's talent for singing had catapulted her to the title of Miss Arizona and eventually Miss America 1965 as she was studying at the University of Arizona.  She is an accomplished singer and performer who also counts ventriloquism as another of her many talents.  She is the only Miss America to also win the Miss Congeniality special award. She is also the first Miss America to freely speak about her faith over national television.  Vonda has also recorded several albums and written several books.   One of her books entitled "That Girl in Your Mirror" has sold over a million hardbound copies.  She and her husband, minister David Tyler Scoates, live in California.

Deborah had been studying at Christian College at the time she was selected to represent Kansas at the Miss America Pageant.  She was also fresh from graduating top 10 from high school.  During her year as Miss America, she spoke in behalf of the organization "Project Concern" which facilitated providing medical support to the underdeveloped nations of the world.  She is still active in community service and in numerous charitable projects including the Mesa Desert Club, which provides scholarships to qualified needy high school graduates. She lives in Arizona with husband Brent and five children.

After her year as Miss America 1967, Jane Jayroe went on to finish her Masters degree from the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma.  Jane was the cabinet secretary for tourism and recreation and executive director of the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department in 1992.  Jane is also an active volunteer serving in leadership roles for several Civic and professional organizations. She took an hand in the initiation of the tradition of Miss America USO show for military troops. She is also currently a television news anchor and author; recently released "Daily Devotionals,'' a set of audio cassettes by ministers and laypeople She still lives in Oklahoma.

Debra Barnes teaches piano at Missouri Southern State College and is music director at the church where her husband, Rev. Mitchell Miles, is pastor. She also has been active as a volunteer court advocate for domestic violence victims in Jasper County. "My year of service as Miss America was very gratifying and a most memorable experience. My faith, commitment to the church and service as being a witness for Jesus Christ is a very exciting and exhilarating experience." Says Debbie of her stint as Miss America 1968.

Prior to her joining the Miss America Pageant, Judith was a world class trampolinist and had competed in this sport both on national and international levels.  Thus, this talent helped her win the title of Miss Illinois and eventually Miss America.  Judith used her scholarship to obtain a Bachelor's degree in physical education at the University of Illinois. She is still an active athlete and is currently an elementary physical education teacher and coach. She had also served on the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports for eight years, appointed by Presidents Nixon and Ford.
