| Carla Tricoli was crowned Miss P.R. Universe 2003, in September of 2002. The pageant was held in San Juan. Carla, a well known local model, was one of the favorites to win the crown. The competition this year was tough, specially Misses San Juan and Barranquitas, whom placed 1st and 2nd Runner ups, respectively. |

| On May of 2003, Carla Tricoli represented PR in the Miss Universe Pageant, held in Panama City, Panama. This edition of the pageant was won by Miss Dominican Republic, Amelia Vega. The first and second runner ups were, Venezuela and South Africa. |
