- The year is 2070.

- After the Voldemort
wars, what remained of the wizarding community slowly began to
pull itself back together. Many of the well respected figureheads
of the magical world had given their lives to ensure the safety
of Muggles and wizards alike. Albus Dumbledore was killed relatively
early on, after almost singlehandedly destroying the majority
of the Death Eaters. Harry Potter, the Boy who Lived, saw his
enemy vanquished before finally succumbing to the immense hurts
and losses he had both felt and witnessed. He died not far from
the corpse of the once great Dark Lord. The other figures you
are so well acquainted with slowly faded from view, living relatively
normal lives. Of course, the Malfoy clan is still around, arrogant
as ever, but with less power than they once wielded. There are
plenty of Weasleys scampering about the globe- it seems fertility
is an inherited trait- but they rarely return to England. There
are few alive who have any personal recollection of the time
of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, and most of those were so young
at the time that they barely understood what was going on.
This year, Hogwarts is finally re-opening for the first time
in 30 years, after having been extensively renovated. Needless
to say, much has changed since then, but the core of life goes
on.. Students are still enrolled by their parents early if they
wish to secure a place in the fabled school. They buy their robes,
books and stationery from Diagon Alley, and the first years are
ushered across the lake in boats, pale young faces excited and
a little fearful. They study classes, sleep in their dormitories,
and dine as a house at the long laden tables in the Great Hall.
Life is settled, and good. Of course, life is never perfect,
and never perfectly safe, and under the still dark waters something
sends a ripple to the surface.
