- Lisa Presley's Letter of Acknowledgement for the GMA's Induction of Elvis into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame
(Elvis Presley: the Official Site Fan Club Newsletter, November 27, 2001)
The following is Lisa Presley's letter of acknowledgement that will be
read at tonight's ceremony:
Gospel Music was a major part of Elvis Presley's life, both personally and professionally. Some of his finest work is embodied in his gospel recordings - work that brought him and generations of his fans - myself included - a great amount of joy, comfort and inspiration. He felt a calling to reach out to others in this way, using his fame in other fields to bring gospel music to new audiences. In doing so, he made a profound contribution to the industry, which you are
recognizing so beautifully and appropriately tonight.
I know how much his being inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of the Fame would mean to him and I wish he could be there to enjoy receiving this wonderful honor. I join all our family and friends and all my father's loyal fans in thanking you. I'm deeply proud of my father and I'm so proud to see his work in gospel music receive this great recognition.
Thank you and God bless you all.

- Lisa Marie's new CD now due for release in early 2003
(Kansas City Star, October 23, 2001)
Lisa Marie's new CD on Java/Capitol should be released in early 2003. Also, Lisa Marie was caught up in this year's "Summer of the Shark." The National Enquirer ran a Sept. 25 story, "Lisa Marie Shark Attack Terror. Romantic Cruise with Nicolas Cage Is Cut Short." Complete with photos of Cage and Lisa Marie. Memo to folks who think Lisa Marie sleeps over at Graceland and that's why the upstairs is closed to the public: "No, she doesn't," Morgan says. "She selects a hotel in the area." - Lisa Marie and Cage to marry
(www.thisislondon.co.uk, October 5, 2001)
Hollywood star Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley are getting married after just five months together because "life's too short". The family of Elvis's daughter says the terrorist attacks of 11 September had made the couple realise they wanted to be together. Elvis's cousin, the Reverend Rick Stanley, said: "From what I understand, the tragedy in New York and Washington made them both realise there are no guarantees in life. She told me directly: "Nic and I don't want to wait another minute. We're going to get married right away.'" Cage, 37, met Ms Presley, 33, at a party in New York last October and they became a couple in May, when Cage's divorce from actress Patricia Arquette was in its final stages.
- Star-struck: PHILLY MAKES THE 'A LIST'
By Stu Bykofsky
(Philadelphia Daily News, September 11, 2001)
MAKING CENTER City their own over the weekend were two Hollywood leading men - Mel Gibson and Nicolas Cage. Gibson made the scene with a male pal (reportedly a doctor) while Cage clung to current love Lisa Marie Presley. Also along for part of the ride was her daughter, Danielle, 12, and his son Weston, 10. ... Saturday night was a marathon as Nick, Lisa and the kids rolled into La Veranda (Pier 3) at 10 p.m. and were treated to a huge meal - a little bit of most everything on the menu. Lisa Marie was in jeans and a stylish blue T-shirt, while Cage was in a rust-colored Prada suit. After dinner (and dumping the kids and picking up friends in their limo), they zoomed to Zanzibar Blue (Broad & Walnut) for a sampling of desserts (Lisa Marie loved the lemon meringue martini) washed down by drinks - Glenlivet 18 on the rocks for him, Belvedere for her. Then they were off to Warmdaddy's (4 S. Front), where musician Bobby Rush was held over for their 1:30 a.m. arrival. More Glenlivet for Nick, while Lisa Marie switched to Absolut and grapefruit juice. They left around 2, strolled past Swanky Bubbles (10 S. Front), which was closing but reopened for the star party. They asked for disco to be played, and Nick and Lisa Marie danced and nuzzled while the group guzzled four bottles of Cristal champagne ($400 each) and hung until about 5:30 a.m. (2:30 Left Coast time).
- Cage turns into cubist to get inside character
(USA Today, page 2E, August 3, 2001)
Nicolas Cage's secret to his success is to be "Master painter". ''I try to become a painting,'' Cage says. ''I learn from visuals, whether it be comic book art or Warhol or Botticelli, because film is a visual medium." ... Even Cage's infatuation with Elvis Presley, which has culminated with a romance with daughter Lisa Marie, fits this painterly pattern. ''I was trying to do an Andy Warhol-style performance in Wild at Heart,'' says Cage, whose Honeymoon in Vegas featured Presley wannabes. ''Andy would take these icons, like Elvis, and then color over them. I thought, 'How can you do that with acting?' I thought, 'Do what you're not supposed to do: imitate.' The first rule in (acting teacher) Stanislavsky is do not mimic. So I mimicked Elvis.''

LEADING LADIES IN NEW LIGHT
By MEGAN TURNER
(New York Post, April 21, 2001)
A new coffee-table book, "Hollywood Moms," features some of Tinseltown's biggest stars in a supporting role - that of mother or daughter. Photographer Joyce Ostin, who is married to DreamWorks Records exec Michael Ostin, called on her Hollywood connections to assemble 50 candid pix of actresses, directors and performers. There's k.d. lang with her mother Audrey; Faith Hill and her two little girls; Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley; Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson; Tea Leoni and her daughter Madeleine "West" Duchovny. "I captured all the women in intimate settings," Ostin says. "It's a very unglamorous way in which I took them - it's more about the emotions between the mothers and daughters, rather than just photos of glamorous movie stars." A breast cancer survivor, Ostin will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the book - excerpts of which appear in this month's InStyle magazine - to breast cancer research.

- Michael Jackson goes to Oxford: Singer to speak about child welfare; also, appearance at Apollo Theater expected
By PHILIP MARTIN
(MSNBC, March 5, 2001)
Pop superstar Michael Jackson, his leg in a cast, hobbled into Britain for a brief visit to deliver a lecture on child welfare and be the best man at a psychic's wedding. The normally reclusive self-proclaimed "King of Pop", who broke his right foot in a fall at his California ranch last week, winced in pain as he negotiated a staircase at London's Heathrow airport before being whisked away in a limousine. Jackson's "Heal the Kids" charity - dedicated to "promoting nurturing relationships between parents and children" - was founded last year by the 42-year-old with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, the author of titles such as "Kosher Sex". Members of the charity's board include former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres and Jackson's close friend, actress Elizabeth Taylor. Jackson, who has two children by former wife Deborah Rowe and was also briefly married to Elvis Presley's daughter Lisa Marie, will be the best man at the famed psychic Uri Geller's wedding on Wednesday. He is also expected to appear at the 10th annual Michael Jackson Day at London's Apollo Theatre on Wednesday evening, an event organized by his international fan club.

- 'Graceland' is a shook-up shoot'em-up (film review)
By Mike Clark
(USA Today, February 23, 2001)
3000 Miles to Graceland stars Kurt Russell and Kevin Costner. It is a violent movie about a heist pulled off by a gang of Elvis look-alikes during a Las Vegas impersonators' convention. It "piles up corpses faster than Elvis piled up No. 1 singles in the '50s". Two hours is too long. "The movie nearly matches the Lisa Marie-Michael Jackson marriage for weirdness."
