| October 2 2000 | Lisa Marie's Debut Album Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of the late King of Rock 'n' Roll, is "two weeks away" from finishing work on her debut album, according to the LP's producer, Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette, No Doubt). "It's turned out just stunning," Ballard said. The album is due early next year. |

| July 2 2000 | Ready to rock 'n' roll? The only surprising thing about Lisa Marie Presley's long-awaited and still upcoming first rock album is why the entertainment industry wasn't able to take advantage of the Presley name and get an album cranked out and on the display racks a dozen years ago. But one cannot rush art. Lisa Marie, 32, has been recording her own songs in Los Angeles. She reportedly has "laid down more than a dozen tracks'' and is still about three songs away from being finished. (It will be one of those long albums.) One of the songs is about her weird marriage to Michael Jackson, the New York Daily News reports. "She writes about things from her life,'' said a source who has heard some of the stuff. "Any song writer would. It's an interesting peek into a woman who hasn't given many interviews.'' Lisa Marie doesn't sing about her father,but a friend told the paper, "She's inspired by her roots. The songs are earthy and heartfelt. At the same time, the music has a modern, commercial sound. It rocks.'' The songs reportedly reflect the mood of the mother of two. After two divorces (first husband Danny Keough was also a musician), she is now engaged to rocker John Oszajza. (He doesn't play on the record, though.) The album is being co-produced by Glen Ballard,who engineered Alanis Morissette's Grammy win. The Presley album is due out next year on Capitol's Java label. |

| July 2 2000 | Lisa Marie records with Alanis producer Michael Jackson has kept a generation of tabloid reporters busy writing about his wacky life, and now comes word that his ex-wife is about to join the fray -- with a musical twist. New York's Daily News reports that Lisa Marie Presley has nearly completed an album of rock songs recorded with Alanis Morissette collaborator Glen Ballard, and has already recorded one track about her marriage to Bubbles the chimp's best buddy. "She writes about things from her life," a source who has heard some cuts tells the Daily News. "Any songwriter would. It's an interesting peek into a woman who hasn't given many interviews." The 32-year-old Scientologist mother of two, who inherited $150 million from the estate of her father, Elvis Presley, may also have inherited some of daddy's chops, a friend of the aspiring singer's told The Daily News. "She's inspired by her roots. The songs are earthy and heartfelt. At the same time, the music has a modern, commercial sound. It rocks." |
