    HISTORY
Mill Lane Independent Methodist Church is off Chapel Street in Leigh Lancashire. It was opened as a place of worship in 1912, and has been a place of worship ever since. People over the years have found Mill Lane Church to be a friendly caring place where the love of Jesus can be seen in action.
There are two services every Sunday. On Sunday morning, there is a Family Service at 10.45 am, where there are a mixture of modern and tradional hymns and songs. Prayers are said including prayers for the local area, as well as Christian work around the  World.  After about 20 minutes, the children leave the main service and go into 'Powerhouse', our Sunday club. The adults stay and listen to a sermon where the Bible's teaching is applied in a relevant way to life today.
The Evening Service is at 6.00 pm and is quieter than the Family Service. Most weeks, a speaker is invited to come and share God's word. Once a month, there is a short Communion service as part of the evening worship. Both services last about an hour, and anyone is welcome to come along.

During the week, there are various activities. There are two Childrens clubs, on Friday evenings. one for the under 7's and the other one for 7-11's. On Friday mornings there is a Parents and Toddlers group. The women hold a Womens Auxillary, on Tuesday afternoons at 2pm, once a fortnight.
A recent extension has also been built, which is used as a community centre for children's work and other activities.
Independent Methodists are a small evangelical denomination, found mainly in the North West and North East of England. There are about 100 Churches belonging to the denomination in this country. These churches are organised into Circuits, Mill Lane belongs to the Leigh Circuit, with six other churches. The denomination is about 200 years old.
