There has been coming more than half year since I created the last release of GoldenPen. I found that I have not enough time and possibilities to support this product and develop new versions in a reasonable time. So, I decided to create the development team of volonteers and participate source code. Anyone, experienced enough in programming can obtain this kind of participation, but in addition to, this person should agree with my following pre-conditions:

  • 1) GoldenPen is Free application for everybody, does not matter wich porposes it will be used for. It will not have any commercial info, banners and advertisement, unless it can include info, personal data and links regarding Developer team members and authors of components.
  • 2) GoldenPen will not include source code and will not be Open Source project, unless for person which I will share code with as Development team. Any developers must not public or distrubute any parts of source code without my personal permission (absolutelly does not matter wich purpouses for).
  • 3) GoldenPen will not include any comercial or shareware components (unless the will be gifted for me for free). The main politic is creating product without any money spending.
  • 4) Me,personally, will be team leader and the only person which will decide about any changes and future development politics.
  • 5) Any income which might be get from GoldenPen project should be share with team members (but I really do not expect any income except "Thanks").
  • 6) Any parts of GoldenPen must not be written on any other languages except Delphi (unless developer will be able to improve absolutely neccessarity of using something else).
  • 7) All offitial documents must be written on English, as well as all types, variable names, remarks in the source code. Any team member must know working English (read and write) to comuunicate with each other.

    In my mind, ideal team should include:

  • 2-3 programmers (may be more, depends of their skills) - they really need immediatelly. I need just 1-2 strong programmers really good experience in object/component developing, know really good Delphi and Win32Api, and probably couple any level experienced programmers (even just starting in Delphi) for huge rutine work
  • 1 person for working on help and documentation - can wait until new project will be ready to test. Ideal person should have English his native language.
  • 1 Web designer (Web programmer) - can wait until new project will be ready to test
  • 1-2 testers. Concerning them, just even do not think to send me email, I already have more them than enough in a couple times

    New (July 2001) GoldenPen Light - Fast and small version of GoldenPen with limited features. Highlight syntax, vertical blocks, unlimited file size, shortcuts for functions, search and replace still there. Unlike full version of GoldenPen there are no calculator, settings customization, Smart code, Roll-up, and so on. Just couple positive features: it is faster and smaller, supports more highlighters, does not toutch registry. Support just one edit window (Notepad like).
