Part 5

Relena could see the anger and determination in Kianu's eyes. He was ready to kill Heero. She quickly broke her embrace from Heero and stepped in front of him, blocking Kianu's shot. "Kianu, I never thought I'd see you again. What do you want?" As his gaze fell on Relena his eyes softened. "Relena, I've come to get you out of here." Relena's eyes narrowed in anger, "How do you think I can trust you after what you've done? What is the real reason you're here?" Kianu looked around him impatiently, "Getting your access codes is one thing, but I didn't want to see you get hurt." He looked at her meaningfully, "Not all of our time together was a lie." He looked past her at Heero and then back to her, "Don't you understand? They have what they want and now you're a liability! They're going to kill you!"

Heero put his hand on Relena's shoulder, "Go with him." She spun around incredulously, "I'm not going anywhere without you!" She turned back around to face Kianu and in her most commanding tone of voice said, "I'll go, but Heero is coming with us." Kianu became impatient, "There's no way--" he was cut off by Relena, "If you really want to help me what does it matter if Heero comes?" Kianu scowled, "Very well, let's get moving, follow me." With that Kianu took off down the hall. Heero grabbed Relena's hand and they took off after him. They ran through twists and turns of never-ending hallway. Finally Kianu stopped and looked back at them, "My shuttle is through there," he said gesturing around the corner, "You two act like my prisoners and hopefully we can bluff our way out of here." He grabbed Relena's arm and gestured with his gun for Heero to walk in front of them.

Kianu approached the guards, "I'm transporting these two to headquarters, engage decompression of the shuttle bay." The first guard looked puzzled, "Sir, we were informed not to let anyone in this shuttle bay." Kianu scowled at him, "Well I'm changing your orders, now do as I command." The guard turned to the Comm link on the wall next to him, "Certainly sir, but I need to get authorization first." Heero sprung into action knocking out the second guard with one swift chop to the neck. He spun around without looking and landed a kick on the first guard sending him to a heap on the floor. Before Kianu could blink Heero then kicked Kianu's gun into the air and caught it, "I'm taking over this escape." Heero then grabbed Relena's hand and they entered the outer chamber of the shuttle bay. Kianu handed them both space suits, "Here put these on, I'll start the decompression procedure." Kianu ran off and Relena struggled with her space suit, turning to Heero she asked, "Where are we?" Heero finished zipping up his suit, "On a resource satellite near L4. Come on we have to get to the shuttle." They entered the shuttle bay and seeing no one around started a mad dash for the shuttle when Heero stopped short causing Relena to run into him, "Heero, what is it". Then she looked up, "Hey, isn't that--" she started but Heero said quietly, "Deathscythe."

Just then a man emerged from around Deathscythe on the upper level. Heero looked up at him without any surprise, "Odin". The man looked down on Heero with the same blank expression and said in the same monotone, "Heero." A blaring alarm broke the silence, warning that the decompression cycle was starting, and Heero threw himself and Relena behind the Gundam for cover as Odin whipped out his gun. "Put on you helmet Relena" Heero commanded. Kianu chose this moment to make a dash for a shuttle. He had almost made it when Odin cut him down. Heero turned to Relena, "When I say go, run for the shuttle." Heero turned back to his look out waiting for the warning alarm to end and the bay to start decompressing. When he sensed the moment was right he yelled at Relena "Go!" She took off for the shuttle with Heero slightly behind giving cover fire. Odin had time to make a few haphazard shots before he dove out of the shuttle bay. He had no space suit and the vacuum of space would kill him.

Relena reached the shuttle with Kianu hunched beside it. Heero opened the hatch and helped her drag Kianu in wordlessly. Once inside he headed for the cockpit but turned back once to look at Relena, "Get yourself secured before we take off." Relena strapped Kianu into a seat with a grunt of determination and got herself strapped in just as a massive burst of acceleration pushed her back against her seat.

The shuttle blasted off, quickly leaving the resource satellite behind. The base was blaring with security alarms and Aya quickly made her way to the control room, just in time to see the shuttle leave their visual sensors. "Send Wufei after them!" A nameless, nervous technician turned to face her, "Ma am, Commander Chang has already left, and is now out of range." Aya scowled, "Can no one pilot Deathscythe?" The same nervous technician answered, "I don't think it's been refueled yet." Aya slammed her fists down upon the table in front of her, "Damn you Heero Yuy!" She then flew into a tantrum, knocking over things and screaming incoherently when she stopped abruptly and started to laugh. She had lost a hold of herself for a moment. It didn't matter. Things were still OK. Soon the carriers delivering the mobile dolls would arrive, Hilde would be reprogrammed and she now had two Gundams. She smoothed the front of her blouse and skirt and snapped at the nervous technician before leaving the room, "Clean up this mess!"

Kianu gasped and started to cough, blood dripped out of his mouth and dripped down his chin. Relena turned to Kianu and went white, blood was oozing everywhere from his gaping chest wound. He reached out for Relena, and she dutifully took his hand. Kianu opened his mouth to speak and more blood dripped off of his face, "Relena, I'm sorry I did this to you." Relena remained silent, she could see there was nothing she could do for him and his time was nearing its end. All she could do is listen to what he had to say so she remained quiet as he continued. "I hated you. You made the colonies stop fighting and I hated the Earth Sphere for allowing the alliance to kill my family. I wanted White Fang to exact my revenge. I joined them but before I could see any action it was all over. I went home to nothing. Now my colony is in ruin. Poverty is everywhere because of the war and--" he paused to cough up more blood. "I blamed you for dragging on the Terran Organization talks. It was stopping the people from getting the aid they needed." Relena looked down sadly. She knew that some colonies were in trouble, and she was moving as fast as she could, but more often than not she was met with opposition. Kianu gasped for a few more breaths, "I never really knew you. I completed my mission but I couldn't let her kill you. I cared too much." Relena kept a firm grip on Kianu's hand as he eased out of this world, "Forget about all that now, what's important is…" She stopped when she saw his chest fail to rise and his head loll to one side. Tears welled in her eyes but she quickly swept them away and let herself into the cockpit.

Heero watched as she entered and took the copilot seat. He observed the blood on her hands and the unshed tears in her eyes but said nothing. She was quiet for some time and then turned to him, "I was bait to catch you wasn't I?" Heero just nodded in agreement. She turned back to look out the window, "Where are we going?" Heero answered without looking away from the emptiness of space in front of them, "To find Duo, I hope to find him alive."

Duo sat quietly next to Quatre in Trowa's trailer at the circus. Trowa stood across from them leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. Duo had come to relay his recent betrayal and now his two friends were mulling over the information he had given them. Quatre put his hand in his pocket and clutched the small box he had there. He had actually came to see Catherine and hadn't been expected this. His hand tightened around the box bitterly, 'Why now?' he thought. Finally Trowa straightened, "Could it be that Wufei has just infiltrated this group to gain information?" Duo sat looking at the floor, "I don't think so, why wouldn't he have come to me and told me the truth instead of trying to recruit me?"

Quatre stood up and ran his hands through his hair, "Duo's right. I think Wufei is still suffering. I thought Heero had convinced him after the Barton Foundation attack that he didn't need to fight, but maybe he's fallen into that hole again." Duo chuckled quietly, "I've got to say, Wufei didn't seem lost, he's got Hilde snowed. I can't believe he would do this intentionally though. I'd like to believe that it's just post traumatic stress from the war or something, but that's not going to stop me from kicking his ass."

Just then a knock was heard and the door of the trailer opened. Quatre brightened expecting Catherine, but his jaw dropped when the door opened completely revealing Wufei. Duo's head snapped up and rage filled his eyes as he immediately sprang for Wufei knocking him backwards out of the trailer and on to the ground. Duo raised his fist and brought it down on Wufei's jaw while yelling, "Bastard!" Wufei retaliated and threw his weight to get Duo off of him. Trowa and Quatre quickly jumped out of the trailer to see both of their friends rolling around on the ground.

And so ends chapter 5. I've gotten zero feedback about this story. Maybe it's because it's my first Gundam fanfic and my second fanfic ever. In any case, even though I had high hopes for this story, and have a lot of exciting things planned, this will be the final chapter unless I get some kind of indication that at least someone out there is reading this. Email me your feedback at jaimelynn1978@yahoo.com
