| The famous series of Philco Transitone radios was produced for only about a dozen years between 1935 and 1957. Less than 2,500 of these classic radios were ever made, and the few that survive are in the hands of discriminating museums and collectors across America. These pages are dedicated to the men and women of Philco who created a radio that truely stands the test of time. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The Philco 46-200 is just another example of art, science and function coming together to create an object of art that defies logic. This particular radio once belonged to David Crosby, son of Bing Crosby. Young David first heard the music of Buddy Holly on this radio back in 1947, an event that forever changed the American music scene. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| It's a Radio, It's a Lamp It's a Clock!!! At right is the innovative combination of neo-classic gothic art-deco design in the Philco Transitone radio with clock and lamp. The multi-functional radio was rescued from a junk pile and was brought back to its original state by retired Philco employees during an intensive three-year project funded by the Philco Historical Museum. |
