Parallel XO Series XO Target Model Tweeter Model
This site contains my crossover design tool collection using the Excel worksheet format. So far, there are spreadsheet calculators for parallel and series two-way networks, a modeling tool for tweeters, and a target model calculator for two-way networks. These crossover tools use complex driver impedance models. You can build 1st through 4th order parallel or 1st through 3rd order series networks plus add two filter sections for speaker-side impedance compensation (Zobel, resonant notch, shelving, attenuation, etc.). Selectable options allow classical design shapes as a starting point (such as Butterworth, Linkwitz-Riley, or Bessel) or custom component designs. You can now import and export response / impedance data using Visual Basic routines. There are no “optimizers” or “artificial intelligence routines” built into these spreadsheets and the design tools won't eliminate the need to make critical decisions. It is my design philosophy that tools should remain dumb so that the user can appear to be smart. Hopefully those decisions will be easier to make.
