Women's Rights

Like any one I have issues and they are ones that I feel very strongly about.  One in perticular is womens rights.  Throughout the ages women have been subject too terrible treatment.  In almost every culture/religion in the world women were or still are treated badly. In China until 1902 young women had their feet bound.  If you do not know what that is, when a girl reaches the age of seven her mother picks a day according to chinese calenders.

A Lead Up

On that day the girl is taken into her room and bindings (like bandages except very long and strong) are wrapped around her foot until the front part bends down towards the heel.  Then she must walk, which is extremely painful and it continues for months until the childs foot is 3 inches long.  If you don't know how long that is, get a ruler and compare it to your foot.  When the binding is all finished the child can barely walk.  The bindings prevent heat from escaping and when every two weeks they are removed (binding is permenant and feet must be binded for the rest of the girls life) the bindings are covered in sweat and blood.Even to this day few but some Chinese women have their feet bound.  The main perpous of binding is a control technique used by men on their wives.

In Afganistan women are not allowed to leave their own houses unless they are accompanied by a male relative.  If they break that rule punishments can be as bad having limbs seperated.  These girls are sold off like cattle to the highest bidder!  She can have her nose cut off for talking to a stranger! If a woman shows any flesh in Afganistan then a crowd is legally allowed to execute her. In Nigeria there was a trial for a woman who gave birth to a baby out of wed lock, only the baby had been conveiced in wed lock and when her husband found out she was pregnant he divorced her!  And she was going to get stoned!  The only way to save her was to say that it happened before the law was set in place!  Women are our mothers, daughters, sisters, wives friends and co workers and should be treated with respect... the world wouldn't function with out women

Women are not asking for much.  They are just running after this insane idea that women are PEOPLE and should be treated just like everyone else.  If you have any problems believing any of that, then just remember that America has no law yet that says women have equal rights.
