When our beloved Meisha was diagnosed with autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) in January of 1992, we were given very little hope for her recovery and long-term survival. However, we were fortunate enough to have our gal with us for 9 years & 10 months past her AIHA diagnosis. Meisha died on November 23, 2001 (only 8 days from her 13th birthday) of amyloidosis. The amyloidosis was probably a result of the long-standing autoimmune hemolytic anemia. Even though the AIHA at times was a real struggle, it also was a real blessing since it taught us so many lessons such as patience, persistence and most of all to cherish each and every day since who knows what tomorrow will bring. We wish to continue to celebrate Meisha's life and her indomitable spirit. May Meisha's story give you HOPE!! |
