Alexander McKenzie arrived in Crows Harbour (Queensport) Nova Scotia via the Colonies in 1783. He was a loyalist and received a grant of land from the Crown. He Married a young widow by the name of Elizabeth Fraser on Feb 8th 1796. They had many children one of which was Anthony McKenzie my g.g. Grandfather. Anthony owned a Schooner called the "Union". He Married a Jane Smith and they had many children. One of which was my Great Grandfather McLeod McKenzie. McLeod was a Captain in the Third Regiment of Guysborough County and later picked up the family trade fishing. McLeod married an Irish women by the name of Mary Carley. They had many children one of which was my Grandfather Edward Winslow McKenzie.
Edward was a Carpenter who married at a late age. He Married Ida May Mason and they had Mary and my father
James Anthony McKenzie.
James a Proffesional boxer at a young age
Married my mother Shirley Hall. They had Charlene, Kim, Nannette, Leeanne, and me James Edward McKenzie. I married Serena Helen Inder of North Sydney. This the genealogy of my Clan McKenzie. My origins are Scottish and my heart is in the Highlands. |
