A Droidnaut is a simple robot, a robotoid construct, built from scratch using simple electronics or macros-electronics (macros-tronics) such as application specific microcontrollers. Some have simple functions, while others may have many complex functions.
A troidbot is a toy-like simple robot, usually a modified toy robot with enhanced functions. Troidbots are modified with simple components, using simple electronic circuits and low cost motors, usually found in old electronics and toys (such as Robosapien, Omnibot, Max_x Steele, Micronauts, etc.)
Building a Troidbot or Droidnaut is great way for a beginner to learn the basics behind electronic circuit theory, circuit construction, and mechanical assembly. It is also a great way for experienced robot builders to review construction techniques and quickly build up simple robot platforms for experimentation and exploration. The builder determines how complex and how expensive their Troidbot or Droidnaut will be. The focus is to have fun, and to explore one's creativity with a spirit of adventure. Robot fans, robot collectors and robot builders of all ages and skill types will find building Troidbots and Droidnauts a rewarding endeavour.
The terms Troidbot (which is a fusion of the words toy, droid and robot) and Droidnaut are used to describe these simple robot constructs as a robotoid (robot like) subset of robots with limited purpose and abilities.

Discussions could range from design ideas, toy robot repair, toy robot modification, circuit ideas, program examples, new robot designs from scratch, etc.
The focus of the website is to explore the creativity, spirit and adventure of building simple robotic machines using the flotsam and jetsam of unwanted machinary and toys - and maybe the odd part from Digi-Key!
