Funky Dog Meat Town - www.funkydogmeattown.com - is a product from John's Big Head by the eccentric artist John DAgostino. Also known as John Dog or Clock Man he has been making outsider art or eccentric art for over 25 years. Funky Dog Meat Town was his first major web site 'concept' piece. Just as he created another persona Clock Man when he was making eccentric art clocks in Miami, he created Maximum DogMeat or Maxi Dog or Max too spread the funk through his e-zine Funky Dog Meat Town. John Dog became an eccentric artist and outsider artist as a life style choice and an act of performance art. Being highly intelligent and extensively educated in the arts there is no way that one can say that the John Dog is a naive artist, although he draws a lot of inspiration from folk art and naive art and other outsider art. He is especially interested in African art and African textiles. He is drawn to the universality of a folk art aesthetic or style. It is direct and unpretentious. Pattern also plays a large part in the design sensibilities of producers of aesthetic objects, crafts, or art across the globe. These influences inter-weave with contemporary themes from modern culture and his personal experiences. What comes out of John's Big Head are shamanistic reactions of an artist who is out of the art loop and into a real life loop.
