This is the AAW Stones from past feature pages.
New items will be added as the feature page changes in AAW.

BloodStone is green with red flecks throughout it, like blood. This is a form of chalcedony, an opaque green Jasper with bright red spots of iron oxide. Bloodstone is mined in India [said to be the best source of bloodstone], Australia, and the United States, Brazil and China.

Bloodstone is also known as Heliotrope.
[Heliotrope derived from Greek words meaning sun and turning] The polished stones were described as reflecting the sun. This maybe because the appearance of the stones surface reminded them of the setting sun reflected in the ocean. Medieval Christians often used Bloodstone to carve scenes of the crucifixion and martyrs, leading it to also be dubbed martyr's stone..

Magic lore claims that when used as a talisman it can render you invisible.
[Guys, a good stone to carry after a fight with your partner...LOL] Carrying a Bloodstone talisman is said to lengthen life, remove obstacles, control spirits [not something I'd personally recommend trying]. In this modern world it may help in court cases as well as guard you against deceptions.

As its name suggests, the Bloodstones magical properties are good for the blood. Bloodstone is not suppose to be good only for the blood either. The heart, kidneys, liver, spleen, bladder, bone marrow and iron deficiencies, blood circulation are all said to be improved with Bloodstone. It's said that it strengthen the blood cells. Strong Blood cells are able to bring more oxygen to the cells, bringing vitality to both the mind and the body. So if you are feeling tired or run down it's a good stone to have around.

During the Middle Ages, Bloodstones were believed to have healing powers. It was thought to be able to stop hemorrhages with the merest touch. Bloodstone has even been called the 'stone of courage' because of those healing powers. The stones were used whole as well as crushed into fine powder. It is said as a powder, mixed with honey and egg whites, Bloodstone could cure tumors and stop bleeding. Even today Bloodstone is used in India as medicine and even as an aphrodisiac.

It is linked to the root and heart chakras providing balance for the heart chakra while dissolving stress, anxiety and centering you.

It is said that Boji Stones™ (pronounced bo-jeye) originate from only one place in the USA; Kansas. The name Boji Stone® was coined and patented by an American dealer. It is claimed that the Boji's are held together by the energy within them and when that energy is gone they 'pop' and become dust. For this reason, as well as the promise of being sued for using the trademark name, you can also find them sold under the name 'pop rocks'.

They are mineral crystallization
[Iron-magnetite], a type of Marcasite nodules though the stones have nothing to do with Pyrite. Marine organisms from ancient inland seas became fossilized in the sediments that remained as the seas dried up and recessed. The sediment forms a spherical shell to surround the fossils. They appear to grow out of the ground like mushrooms as softer surrounding soil is washed or blown away. It seems as if they grow to the surface on stems with a sphere shaped top.

The stones are dark gray, black-brown or black in color but you can also find them in Rainbow as well. Their size can vary from the size of a penny up to around the size of a golf ball. Boji stones come in pairs, male and female. Female stones are described as a smoother stone though you can still see some crystallization on the surface. Male stones have a more pronounced crystallized surface. It is said that for every seven female stones there is only one male stone.

Boji is a container for balanced energy and that is what is said to hold the stone together. If the energy in a Boji is depleted or destroyed, the stone changes molecule structure and it turns to dust. Total energy draining of the Boji stone or "Boji death" can be avoided either by giving energy back into the stone and treating it with protective oils. Coat the stone with the oil and gently roll the stone between your fingers feeding energy into the stone.

Magically speaking Boji Stones have a strong grounding earth energy. Because of that strong connection with the earth they manifest a powerful healing energy.

For physical healing it’s said that it helps with arthritis, rheumatism, cellular regeneration and rejuvenation, burns, colic. It also is said to help with mental/emotional by healing negative feelings, helping let go of old pains, removes blockages and changing ones troublesome emotional patterns.

It balances, aligns and supercharges all chakras but it can be especially helpful with the 5th chakra. Opens avenues of communication with animals and other forms of telepathy.

Calcite is a crystal that can be clear, green, gray, pale yellow to rich golden tones, violet, pink, white/pink, orange, red, and blue, brown, white ("Iceland Spar" is a white calcite and has a cat's-eye look to it) and even black. The colors vary because of the impurities in the crystal and often form attached to other crystals, like amethyst, citrine, and fluorite. Some types have fluorescent and phosphorescent properties. Some Iceland spar can fluoresce a purple or blue color and some specimens will even phosphoresce (continue to glow) after the UV light has been removed. Calcite is a soft stone and can be easily scratched with a fingernail.

Calcite comes in many forms as well as colors; chalk, limestone, marble, Oriental alabaster, stalactite and stalagmite formations and travertine. Calcite is one of the most common minerals on the face of the Earth, comprising about 4% by weight of the Earth's crust. Though often used for decorative building a note worthy use of Calcite was in the inlaid throne found in the Tomb of Tutankhamun.

Calcite can be found all over the world; in Brazil, China, Czechoslovakia, England, Germany, Mexico, Iceland and the U.S.

Magically the double images produced by the clear calcite reminds us that things are more than they seem. It aids in seeing things in a clear or new way. Because of the double image it makes it is often used in magic and rituals to double the power. Calcite is a calming stone, helping one to center and focus before magical work or meditation. It is also used as an aid in astral projection.

It is believed that Calcite will aid memory, enhancing it and intensifies clarity. It is also said to help transition between negative situations to a more positive one. Crystal healers work with calcite to bring a gentle, deep healing to bones, joints, ligament damage, arthritis and nervous tension. It helps clear negative energies from the environment and the body bringing harmony and healing.

Each Color of Calcite is said to have different healing and magical property.

Carnelian is a red variety of chalcedony. It can vary in color from an orange, clear orange-red to a dark orange brown, flesh tone red and clear red. Its red color is due to the presence of iron impurities in the form of iron oxide or hematite. No matter the color of the stone though it is always translucent. It has had different names throughout history. It has been known as Sadoine, Mecca Stone and Pigeon’s Blood Agate. It has also been used as an alternate Birthstone for August.

Carnelian was originally found in the deserts of Arabia and Egypt. Today deposits of Carnelian are found throughout the world. The most famous sites where Carnelian can be found are in India, Brazil, Uruguay, Japan and of course Arabia and Egypt but it can also be found in Scotland, Colombia, China, Madagascar, USA, Germany.

The greatest myth surrounding the Carnelian comes from the Egyptian Culture. The Egyptian goddess Isis protected the dead with a Carnelian Amulet named Thet. When the amulet was placed on the body of the deceased, Isis would grant the person protection from harm while moving through the afterlife.

Some use Carnelian to treat many types of physical illnesses. Because of its connection with the 2nd Chakra, centered in the lower abdomen, healers use it to treat impotence, menstrual cramps, and infertility. They have also used its power for healing neuralgia, rheumatism, asthma, dermatological ailments such as acne and psoriasis. Some even use it for skin disorders of pets.

It is said that
magical energies are unblocked by Carnelian and that free flowing energy helps one to feel a deeper appreciation of oneself and a greater connection with friends and lovers. It strengthens concentration, increases the sense of self-worth. It can bring career success, and increase organizational abilities.

Copper is the oldest mined metal and at one time was quite plentiful. Naturally occurring copper resources are depleted. Commercial use typically relies on recycling efforts for its source of copper because mining for it is no longer an economical viable enterprise. Because native copper is so rare what mining does still occur is more for study or Jewelry.

Copper is reddish with a bright metallic luster. Copper contains brass and bronze alloys. It is a good conductor of heat and electricity (second only to silver in electrical conductivity).

The worlds largest deposit of Copper is found in Chile. Other sources of copper are Canada, China, Indonesia, Mexico, Poland, Russia, the United States and Zambia.

Historically Copper has represented the Greek God Venus and is one of the oldest metals known to be used by man. It is said to protect against evil, attract love, improve circulation, increase energy, detoxify the body, reduce inflammation, arthritic and rheumatic diseases, stabilize the metabolism and improve oxygen use.

Copper is typically worn as a bracelet but can be worn as an armband as well. Because Copper is a good physical conductor of electricity and heat, it is believed to have the ability to conduct spiritual energy back and forth from individuals, crystals, auras, the mind and the spirit world. This makes it an excellent material for making
magical wands. It is also suppose to have the power to amplify psychic communication.

Emerald is the green variety of the mineral beryl and unlike other beryls the inclusions and other flaws in Emeralds are considered part of the character of the stone. These flaws are often used to assure that it is a natural Emerald.

Emeralds come in a variety of green colors though some have yellowish to bluish overtones. The amount of green is what gives the Emerald its value. The color variety is caused by small amounts of chromium, in the form of chromic oxide, vanadium and by traces of iron.

Deep green is considered to be the most desired color. The stone loses color when strongly heated. Pale green emeralds are not typically called emeralds at all but ‘green beryl’. Green beryl are sometimes heat-treated; with this treatment they become Aquamarine.

The earliest known sources of emeralds appear to have been obtained from Upper Egypt, as early as 2000 BC, during the life of Pharaoh Sesostris III. The so-called Cleopatra's emerald mines, were a source of emerald near the Red Sea in Egypt. Greek miners worked the mines in the time of Alexander the Great, and later the mines were worked for Cleopatra. Cleopatra was an avid emerald collector. Other sources of Emerald include India, Norway, South America, USA.

Magically Emeralds are said to bring wisdom, stimulate dreams, empower the owner with the power to see into the future, help in the recovery of lost objects, improve memory, intuition, increase your ability to learn, help to expand your conscious and subconscious (psychic) mind, increase deeper spiritual insight.

It is said to grant success in love, bring true friendships. The Emeralds color is said to change color if you are in the presence of a false friend. If it was given as a token of love it will grow pale if that love is waning. An emerald is used as an amulet for good fortune and a talisman of protection. It is said for best magical results when made into a talisman to be worn it should be set in silver or copper.
