Dominica is quite easy to fly to from the UK. There are two airfields: Melville Hall in the North and Cane field in the South (at Roseau). However, these are not large enough for 747’s so you’ll have to come via another destination. I would recommend Antigua.
Those household name airlines: Virgin Atlantic, British Airways fly to Antigua. Why not check their schedules and prices now by clicking on the text or at the bottom right of the page. If you travelling any distance to UK airports (Gatwick and Heathrow for example) by car then, you’ll want to be prepared in the case of your trusty wheels letting you down or; heavy traffic. So get car breakdown insurance and driving directions. Onward travel from Antigua is readily provided by Caribbean Star Airlines. Just a 30 minute flight! Although it is possible to get an onward flight from Antigua to Dominica the same day, you may want to stay the night. You could do worse than the Beachcomber Hotel I have stayed there myself – take you insect repellent and be prepared to breakfast around wild songbirds in the conservatory cafeteria! |
