Marion County Soil Survey

A major priority for the Marion County SWCD is the need to educate students about the wise use of our natural resources.   The District offers competitive education grants for implementing or establishing environmental education projects or outdoor glassroom activities to help meet this goal.
This is the fourth year Marion County SWCD has provided grants.  Already, six classrooms and five schools have benefited from the funding. Please take a few minutes  today to apply for a grant.  It is an opportunity to provide your students with a greater understanding of the importance of our natural resources.

Sammy Soil
Thanks to the Chickasaw-Shiloh RC&D Council in Jackson Tennesse, Sammy Soil CDs are available.  This CD-ROM program will be a valuable asset to your conservation education programs.  The program was developed for K-3 classrooms.  It will help you teach your students about soil, how erosion affects soil and how erosion can be prevented.  After all the different sessions have been completed, there is a question and answer game with a printable certificate for your student.  This program will help prepare your students to be wise land stewards as they grow into smart, caring adults to protect and conserve our natural resources.
