Thank
you for visiting our site. Maine Friends is both an online resource and
a social group designed to provide support for people in Maine who have
herpes simplex virus 1 (oral) and herpes simplex virus 2 (genital) and
human papilloma virus (HPV/genital warts). For the sake of simplicity,
let's refer to all three as herpes.
We were formed in July of 2001, and are located throughout southern & mid Maine. All ages 18 and above and all lifestyles are
welcome here.
So, what do we mean
by "social group"? As the name suggests, it's a group of people who
have herpes, and get together on a regular basis for emotional support and
fun in a non-judgemental way. Yes, it is possible to
still have fun after contracting herpes. Weekend dinner gatherings are planned for the 3rd Saturday
each month. We are also open to suggestions as far as other outings or ideas. All members on our mailing list receive notices
of any upcoming events.
This
site is designed for you, so please feel free to suggest ways to make
the site better. We sincerely want your input and opinions.
Although Maine Friends is not a herpes related dating
service (see our links page for those), it is a great place to meet
folks and make new friends.
