The Dome (Lutheran) Church, Tallinn * Tallinn's Parliament Building

yes...they have them worldwide...

What looks like the Paks Margareta (Fat Margareta) Tower in Tallinn (but is actually its twin, the Kiek in de Kök tower)...and an archway by the Fat Margareta tower also in Tallinn. Tallinn is an old city, bordered by restored castle ruins.
This parade lasted four hours. It marked the beginning of the famous Song and Dance Festivals in Tallinn in July.

Folkdancing is a very important part of Estonian culture...each separate region has their own distinct costume. The woman with the coins is of Setu background, which is a mixture of Estonian and Russian.

Tallinn...

and more Tallinn...

The famous Laulupidu (song festival) in Tallinn...amazing! Choirs of all ages and from different countries of the world gather for two days of song...
Yes...I ate this. Smoked fish, especially pike from the Peipsi Lake, is a delicacy in Estonian culture.

Narva is a town on the border of Estonia and Russia. Communism has taken its toll on the once-beautiful Narva, but I chose to take pictures of some of the nicer aspects of Narva...
...but not everything is beautiful and happy. This is a graveyard where many people were buried after the first World War. It may be hard to tell from the picture, but these used to be silver crosses on each gravestone. Now, the memories of the Russians stealing the crosses to sell the silver still remain...

These are pictures taken in various places in Otepaa.

I was fascinated by what I saw in Voru. This picture isn't very up-close and clear, but this is a stork's nest. Yes, those strange birds that bring babies to happy mommies and daddies. They're amazing looking birds, and they build their nests on the tops of hydro poles...so very cool!

Tartu, home of Tartu University...my favourite city in Estonia!
The picture on the left is of a fountain right by Raekoja Plats, a central "meeting area" in Tartu. Local and visiting musicians play daily on a stage here. The picture on the right is of a lecture hall in the 350 year old Tartu University.
