Shows - April 27, 2000 - Eve Selis
Photos by John Baldi

Before a capacity crowd of 40 guests, the ever-expressive Eve Selis brought energy, spirit and yes, grace to the 2nd show of the Meeting Grace house concert series.

Joined by songwriting partner and extraordinary guitarist, Marc Intravaia and percussionist, straight man, Bob Sale, Eve filled every moment with intense and pure emotion.

Eve, Bob and Mark get into it!
Eve and Bob Eve and the boys performed songs that spanned their history, from the early releases as King's Road to today's band and their latest record, Long Road Home. Eve noted that their journey has been a long road that found a destination (though certainly not the final stop) in this particular home. The strength, belief and soul of Eve's voice and Marc & Bob's playing was without question as they moved through upbeat songs like "The Lucky One" and "Happy to Be with You" as well as heartwrenching ballads such as "My Sweet Companion" and "Show Me What Love Is." They even managed to slip in a few covers of some of their favorites like Crosby, Stills & Nash, Johnny Cash and Wanda Jackson.
A strong, nearly 2 hour set was capped off beautifully by a special request, "Memphis." The song was inspired in part by Jeff Buckley's music and the relationship between him and his father, Tim Buckley. Coincidentally, and perfectly appropriate, this house concert series' name is also inspired in part by one of Jeff Buckley's albums, Grace. With the crowd already sufficiently mesmerized,

Eve, Marc and Bob cast more sensational spells over the attentive group and brought chills and sighs of appreciation with every note. No strangers to performing in bars and clubs, Eve and the guys took to the house concert intimacy and atmosphere with ease and natural style.

Eve rocks the git-box

Their casual interaction with the crowd, downright funny stories and incredible performances made it seem like they do this kind of intimate, totally unplugged stuff all the time.

Everyone in the house (including Eve, Marc and Bob) agreed that the evening was awesome and we hope to have the three of them back again.
