"Feathered & Framed"
PSP8 Tutorial

For this tutorial you will need:
PSP8 or Demo which you can download here
FM Tile Tools Demo which you can download here.
Graphic and gold pattern which you can download here
 
Unzip the FeFr.zip file and open the images.
Minimize the gold pattern for now.
Make a copy of the main graphic by
holding Shift + D, and close the original.
 
Go to Layers, Duplicate.
With the duplicate layer active,
Go to Effects, Reflection Effects, Kaleidoscope
with the following settings:
Image Area: Horizontal minus -49, Vertical minus -84,
Rotation 252, Scale 70
Edge Mode: Wrap
Kaleidoscope Settings: Number of Petals 4
Number of Orbits 5, Radial Suction 96
 
NOTE: If using a different graphic, play with these
kaleiodoscope settings until you get something that you like.
 
Go to you Layer Palette and hide the duplicate
layer, but keep it the active layer.
With your selection tool set to Ellipse
and your options set to Feather 20, Antialias checked .
Draw an ellipse around the center of the graphic.
With this image, you would start at X240, Y155.
leaving some border because your selection is going
to feather out 20 pixels.
 
Unhide the Duplicate layer, making sure it is still
the active layer.
Hit your Delete key.
Your image should now look like this.
Select None.
Go to Layers, Merge All Flatten.
 
Go to your Material Palette and set the foreground
color to Pattern and select the D_gold fold.bmp that
you minimized earlier, at a scale100, Angle 0.
Go to Image Add Borders, Color White,
Symmetric Checked, add 4 pixels.
Select your Magic Wand with Tolerance 0,
Feather 0, and click on the white border.
Flood fill this border with the pattern.
 
Go to Selections, Invert. Then to Effects,
3D Effects, Cutout with these settings:
Vertical & Horizontal 0, Opacity 100, Blur 30,
Shadow Color Black .
Select None.
 
Go to Image Add Borders, Color Black
Symmetric checked, add 40 pixels.
With your Magic Wand, same settings as before,
Select the Black border.
Go to Effects, Plugins, FM Tile Tools, Collage Circular
with the following settings:
X 0.125, Y 0.125, Operation 2 and Apply.
Keep Selected.
 
Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel
with the following settings:
Bevel Shape #2, Width 20, Smoothness 5,
Depth 15, Ambience 0, Shininess 0, Color White
Angle 315, Intensity  & Elevation 38.
Select None.
 
Go to Image Add Borders, Color White,
Symmetric Checked, add 4 pixels.
With your Magic Wand, select the white
border and flood fill with the gold pattern.
Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow
with the following settings:
V & H 2, Opacity 100, Blur 6.00.
Repeat the Drop Shadow and change the V & H to minus -2.
Select None.
 
Merge all Flatten. Resize 70%.
Go to Adjust, Sharpness, Unsharp Mask
with the following settings:
Radius 1.00, Strength 50, Clippings 0
 
And here is your finished image!
